It’s about to happen my little lovelies.

I’ve been trying to avoid it, I’ve been sipping extra coffee and piling on the sweaters. It seems that there is no putting it off, I am going to have to employ the heater. I hate the heater, it smells funny and makes my sinuses dry. It never seems to actually warm me, I mean I can tell the chill in the air is reduced but I am still cold.

Just the other week we, down here in the DEEP deep south, got a wee cold snap. Look, I say cold but it’s relative. It’s probably laughable to many people who get blizzards and crap. I also have to mention that as a woman who weighed more than 200 pounds for more than half my life, I am NOT used to feeling cold and now it’s all I feel. Any-it’s-freezing-out-way, we got a drop in temperature and I had to break out the sweaters and such. I am a homeschooling mother, which means I don’t have to re-up my kids wardrobe with school clothing and new school colored sweaters every year. We hadn’t even thought of our cold weather clothes since February of last year when we needed it last. Safe to say that Lou ♥, who has grown a full and complete THREE AND A HALF inches since March, needs all new shirts and pants as her wrist and ankles are left precariously bare! Both my girls need new winter boots, and probably rain boots as well. We all need new gloves or to at  least find a few mismatched pairs to use…

I unload some extra blankets and two days later we were all basting in our extra warm-ness. I tossed the warm things aside agitated by the fact that this is how it’s going to be for the next four or five months, this is it! Two day of frozen and then a warm runny day while everything melts… I thanked the weather gods that at least I don’t have to turn on the heater, but it seems that little thank you note went out too soon!
